#### Veracruz Elect Congressman Found Dead After Being Kidnapped
Amado Solís Guzmán, an elected congressman in Veracruz for the Partido Verde Ecologista de México (PVEM), was discovered dead on August 19, 2024. His body was located on the federal highway México-Tuxpan, in the María Andrea community of Venustiano Carranza, Puebla. He had been kidnapped five days earlier.
Local media reported that Solís Guzmán, who had won his seat through proportional representation, was driving a black Honda Odyssey on Independencia Avenue in the municipality of Álamo Temapache, Veracruz, when armed men blocked his path, forced him out of his vehicle, and abducted him.
Amando Solís Cabrera, the father of the deceased, identified his son’s body at the Servicio Médico Forense (SEMEFO) in Xicotepec, Juárez, Puebla, on August 19.
According to local reports, residents of the María Andrea ejido in Venustiano Carranza found a bagged corpse on the roadside on the morning of August 19.
Apart from his political career, Solís Guzmán was an entrepreneur. In 2002, he was a candidate for councilor. From 2013 to 2014, he coordinated the Junta de Mejoras in Veracruz and served as an advisor in the local state congress. He was also a primary school teacher and a partner at the El Cedro sanitary landfill in Tihuatlán.
