## Venezuela: Clash Between Two Imperialist Mastiffs

“There’s no fundamental difference between Nicolás Maduro and Corina Machado,” the famous quote by Joseph Stalin at the 17th Congress of the CPSU (January 1934) might best encapsulate the political landscape in Venezuela today. Both figures are puppets of imperialism—Maduro aligned with Russian and Chinese interests, while Machado leans towards American imperialism.

This isn’t the first time the conservative bourgeois opposition has cried “Fraud!” Back in 2019, Juan Guaidó was recognized as the “legitimate president” by Donald Trump, and in 2013, Henrique Capriles, another official opposition candidate, received support from the U.S., France, Spain, and the OAS. Both elections concluded in a “negotiated exit,” while public protests died down soon after.

For those who scrutinize closely, it’s evident that elections in any capitalist country are a grotesque circus. With copious testimonies available in Venezuela, the National Electoral Council (CNE) is often seen as an extension of chavista absolutism—akin to Mexico’s INE, today controlled by the militarized autocracy of the “4T.”

Now, it appears that American imperialism has decided to replace the loathed Venezuelan autocrat Nicolás Maduro with a newer, more docile figure favorable to Wall Street—the same strategy applied in Latin American regimes united under Washington’s influence. Currently, they are pressing for a vote recount that, according to the White House, would affirm a victory for the opposition—a move that discreetly urges Maduro to resign without causing a stir.

Right-wing opposition leader Corina Machado and socialist president Nicolás Maduro both share a fear of a revolutionary civil war that could easily engulf them both. Machado’s calls for peaceful conduct mirror Maduro’s admonishments against provocation.

The fear is that these isolated and spontaneous revolts could turn into a massive, organized, and radicalized movement. Both Maduro and Machado fear the chaos that uncontrolled public anger could bring.

It’s worth noting the silence of the once vocal “Bolivarian chavistas.” Where are Cuba, Nicaragua, and Bolivia now, who have only weakly defended the Venezuelan president? The fear of U.S. retaliation keeps many quiet.

Why have Mexican “communists” remained silent during this offensive against their “companion president” Maduro? Is it because he no longer embodies the socialist principles they once defended?

Acting now is critical. The Venezuelan proletariat needs to be rallied and led by revolutionary Marxist-Leninists to crush both reactionary “left” and right-wing forces. The priority for patriots today is to mobilize for a general political strike, with the aim of overthrowing Maduro, halting pro-American puppets led by Machado, and preventing any form of negotiated settlement with the chavista dictatorship.

The revolutionary leaders must be persistent and display the same unwavering spirit as the Palestinian resistance fighters. Without such dedication, the revolutionaries risk fading into irrelevance.
