**UABC Donation Center to Potentially Extend Until Friday**

The University Autonomous of Baja California (UABC) in Tijuana has announced the possibility of extending its donation center operations through Friday due to lower than expected participation from students in the collection of supplies for the victims affected by Hurricane John in Guerrero.

Adelia Aramburu, head of the Department of Planning and Projects at UABC’s Tijuana campus, shared that only a small number of students have been able to donate the necessary food and beverages. Originally, donations were accepted on Tuesday and Wednesday, but due to the limited influx, the timeline was extended to Thursday.

“We’ve been promoting this and decided to give people an extra day to make sure those who couldn’t donate yet have the opportunity to bring something,” Aramburu explained. She encouraged students and Tijuana residents to stay updated via UABC faculty web pages and social media, in case the collection period is further extended.

In addition to students, the UABC community as a whole, including directors, have been encouraged to contribute. All collected items will be delivered to the local DIF organization before being transported to Guerrero.

In related news, Hurricane John has caused extensive damage across Guerrero, affecting thousands of residents and resulting in widespread infrastructure challenges. Many communities have been left without power and clean water, amplifying the need for assistance and supply donations.

Local authorities are working tirelessly to restore essential services but emphasize the continued need for external support. The situation has prompted a call for donations of non-perishable food, bottled water, hygiene supplies, and basic medical items to help those in stricken areas recover more swiftly.

Various organizations across Mexico, alongside the UABC’s efforts, have set up similar collection centers to aid those affected by the hurricane. Community members and organizations are encouraged to continue contributing to help meet immediate needs and support rebuilding efforts in Guerrero.
