### Water Supply to Return to Affected Colonies Today, Confirms CESPT

Residents in Tijuana can expect the restoration of their potable water supply by Wednesday at the latest, according to Jesús García Castro, the head of the State Commission of Public Services of Tijuana (CESPT). The service is set to return by 10 PM, but García Castro did not specify the exact number of colonies impacted by the disruption.

García Castro highlighted that the recent heatwave led to an unprecedented increase in water consumption, straining the city’s capacity to deliver an adequate supply. “The case of Colonia Hidalgo, located in a high-altitude area, was one of the first affected. Similar issues occurred in Delicias and Villa del Campo, among other high-altitude areas,” he added.

The technical team reported that during these scorching days, the average water demand spiked to approximately 5,900 liters per second, while the city’s supply capacity stands at 5,400 liters per second. “The deficit in our water service stems from these abnormal temperature peaks, which led to record-high consumption levels,” García Castro explained.

Recent data indicates that Tijuana experienced a notable surge in water usage due to a severe heatwave, with demand escalating by 10%. Jesús García Castro, head of the CESPT, stated that the city encountered challenges in meeting this heightened demand, resulting in intermittent water supply, particularly in high-altitude neighborhoods like Villa del Campo, Delicias, and Colonia Hidalgo.

Additional reports from the Sanitary Jurisdiction 2 revealed that they attended to four cases of dehydration between July and August, exacerbating the urgent need for a reliable water supply. The intense heatwave has undoubtedly put a strain on Tijuana’s water resources, making it imperative for authorities to address these irregularities promptly.
