### 12 Tijuana Neighborhoods Wake Up Without Water Due to Otay-Libertad Aqueduct Leak

On Monday, September 16, twelve neighborhoods in Tijuana experienced a water outage due to a leak detected in the Otay-Libertad aqueduct managed by the State Commission of Public Services (Cespt). According to Cespt, repairs are expected to take approximately 34 hours.

The leak was located near the Otay II border crossing, prompting an interruption in the water supply starting at 8:00 AM on Monday. The affected neighborhoods include 10 de Mayo, Las Torres, Nido de las Águilas, Las Torres II, Nido de las Águilas (ZI), Granjas Familiares División del Norte, Granjas Familiares División del Norte (ZI), Otay Magisterial, Rancho Ontiveros, Rancho Escondido, Rinconada, and Rinconada II.

“The complexity of the maneuvers requires shutting off the supply to the neighborhoods served by this line. The repair work is expected to last 34 hours and be completed by 6:00 PM on Tuesday, September 17, after which the water supply will begin to recover overnight,” stated Cespt in a message posted on their official Facebook page.

However, other nearby neighborhoods such as Altabrisa, Tomás Aquino, Libertad Parte Alta y Baja, Otay Universidad, Otay Módulos, Buena Vista, Río Vista, Lomas Taurinas, Del Río Parte Baja y Alta, and Postal have also reported water shortages, despite not being listed in Cespt’s advisory.
