### Addressing Mobility Issues in Tijuana’s Industrial City
Improving Tijuana’s Industrial City’s road infrastructure is critical due to increasing foreign investments, highlighted Aram Hoodoyan Navarro, head of the Association of Customs Agents of Tijuana and Tecate.
Navarro underscored the urgent need for a comprehensive reengineering of Industrial Boulevard to alleviate severe traffic congestion in the eastern zone, an issue that has persisted for decades and impedes smooth transit.
Upon completion of federal construction projects such as the Elevated Viaduct and access to the Otay 2 border crossing, there may be some traffic relief. However, the need for enhancements to Industrial Boulevard remains pressing, with current conditions causing one to one-and-a-half-hour delays for commuters.
Addressing road infrastructure problems involves focusing on better street conditions, improved paving, and an upgrade of traffic signals. Such enhancements support the prominent foreign investments flowing into the area.
Federal funds from vehicle regularization, specifically foreign-origin vehicles, should ideally be allocated to projects such as pothole repairs in the Otay area. Multiple stakeholders stress the importance of this investment to maintain operational efficiency and economic growth.
