### Increased Surveillance and Breathalyzer Checkpoints for Patriotic Celebrations: SSPCM

As patriotic celebrations approach, the Tijuana Municipal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPCM) has announced increased surveillance and the implementation of breathalyzer checkpoints across the city. Fernando Sánchez González, the head of SSPCM, emphasized the importance of maintaining vigilance during large public events. He shared that special security operations will be conducted in Zone Río, the city center, and around the Tijuana Fairgrounds.

“Whenever there are mass gatherings, it’s crucial to stay alert. We know that the Independence Day festivities draw large crowds, and we’re prepared with a comprehensive security operation and deployment in these areas,” Sánchez González stated.

### Activities and Security Plans for September 15

This year, the Independence Day celebrations will take place next to the Municipal Palace, at Glorieta Miguel Hidalgo. The festivities will kick off at 6 PM with a popular fair, followed by the traditional Grito de Independencia ceremony, and concluded with a free concert by the Sonora Dinamita, led by Lucho Argaín.

“We’ll have a police presence in that area while also ensuring coverage of the city center and other patriotic events,” Sánchez González explained.

Additional security posts will be set up near Parque Morelos, the El Trompo Museum, and the Palenque, where various artistic activities related to the Tijuana Fair are taking place. “We’re maintaining a constant presence in these areas because many citizens go there to celebrate with their families,” the official added.

### Secrecy on Deployment Numbers

Sánchez González did not disclose the exact number of officers that will be deployed but assured it would be substantial to ensure the safety of Tijuana’s residents. “We have to keep certain details confidential, but the number of deployed officers will be significant to safeguard the public,” he noted.

The deployment will also include breathalyzer checkpoints spread across the city due to the festivities. Furthermore, the SSPCM will continue its vigilance operations on Monday, September 16, during the traditional Independence Day parade.
