# Public Outcry Over Fraudulent Finance Scheme Promising Plastic Surgeries in Tijuana

A growing scandal has emerged in Tijuana involving a fraudulent finance service that promised loans for cosmetic surgeries. Victims, such as Vanessa González, have come forward to expose the fraudulent activities of a company known as Cía Beauty & Health, or Taci Belleza y Salud Financiera. The company offered financial assistance for cosmetic and bariatric surgeries but failed to deliver the procedures or return the money, leaving many in financial distress.

Vanessa González signed a contract with the company back in 2017, paying 180,000 pesos for procedures including a mommy makeover and labiaplasty. “We were supposed to pay for the surgeries in installments, but after completing the payments, the surgeries never happened. Suddenly, our contracts were canceled, and the money wasn’t refunded,” González stated.

She initially trusted the service after learning about it on social media and knowing someone who had successfully undergone surgery with their financial assistance. However, after several cases of malpractice associated with collaborators at Hospital Jerusalem were exposed, clients were reassured of better collaborations with new doctors – a promise that was never fulfilled.

In July, Vanessa reported her case to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), joining twelve other open complaints against the same representative, Andrea. Many victims refused Andrea’s offer of gradual repayments, demanding full restitution or legal action.

This Tuesday, alongside other victims, Vanessa attended a witness hearing at the FGE to seek justice. She hopes for compensation and legal consequences for Andrea. Additionally, over 50 women have approached Vanessa, sharing their own experiences of falling victim not only to these surgical finance scams but also other fraudulent enterprises.

# Medical Tourism in Tijuana Sees Slow Recovery After Significant Decline

In a related development, medical tourism in Tijuana is experiencing a slow revival after witnessing a 40% downturn. The escalation in fraudulent medical practices has impacted the industry’s reputation, causing concerns about patient safety and trust.

More than 75% of the cosmetic surgeries performed in Tijuana cater to foreign clients, primarily due to competitive pricing and perceived quality. However, with cases such as that of Cía Beauty & Health coming to light, potential patients are becoming increasingly wary of acquiring medical services in the region.

Efforts are underway to implement stricter regulations and safeguard standards to deter charlatans from exploiting patients further. The College of Plastic Surgeons has emphasized the need for decisive legislative action to address malpractice and eradicate fraudulent operations.

As the situation unfolds, city officials and health professionals are working to rebuild trust and encourage a safe environment for medical tourism, which is a vital component of the local economy.
