Tijuana Scam Upsets Patients

Public uproar erupts as victims of Tijuana finance company, Cía Beauty & Health, decry unfulfilled promises of plastic surgeries and lost money, exposing scams targeting unsuspecting clients.

**Public Outcry Against Fraudulent Finance Company Promising Plastic Surgeries in Tijuana**

In a growing controversy, victims have publicly accused a fraudulent finance company in Tijuana that promised loans for cosmetic procedures but never delivered the services or returned the money. Vanessa González, a victim of the suspicious financial firm known as Cía Beauty & Health or Taci Beauty & Health Finance, prominently voiced her frustrations. She had expected to undergo procedures like a Mommy Makeover and labiaplasty, paying 180,000 pesos out of pocket, only to have the surgeries canceled without refund.

Victims allege that representative Andrea promised to handle the payments for surgeries up front while allowing the clients to pay in installments. However, after completing payments, many never underwent their procedures. González initially found confidence in the company through social media and the success of a colleague who used their services. However, she and others soon found themselves defrauded when Andrea’s promises of new doctor agreements fell through after issues about malpractice had arisen with staff at Hospital Jerusalem.

After becoming aware of over a dozen similar complaints against Andrea since 2016, Vanessa reported the scam to the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) in July. She has since been contacted by around 50 other women who faced not only financial fraud related to surgeries but were also scammed in purchasing other products and services like air conditioners and savings systems.

**Secondary Story: Tijuana Medical Tourism Slowly Bounces Back**

In a related story, Tijuana’s medical tourism sector is gradually recovering following a significant 40% drop. The city, which sees over 75% of its cosmetic surgery clientele arriving from abroad, faced a sharp decline due to various compounding issues, including security concerns and fraudulent businesses tarnishing its reputation.

Efforts are underway to rebuild trust in Tijuana’s medical tourism, with authorities tightening regulations to discourage ‘charlatan’ practices that have plagued the sector. Despite legislative attempts, issues persist, reiterating the need for further reforms to ensure patient safety and improve the city’s image as a medical destination.

The local government continues to emphasize the importance of accredited facilities and certified practitioners working in compliance with international standards to reassure potential patients and regain their confidence. As these measures take effect, Tijuana aims to restore its standing as a trusted hub for affordable medical procedures.
