A group of women recently filed a complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office against Andrea Ruiz and her family for allegedly defrauding them out of more than 100,000 pesos under the pretense of providing plastic surgeries that never occurred.

Vanessa González, one of the victims, revealed that she was swindled out of 180,000 pesos. She paid this amount under a contract for a plastic surgery procedure that was later canceled when she inquired about the surgery date.

“When I made my issue public, other women reached out to me with similar stories. Andrea canceled my contract just because I asked why my surgery hadn’t been financed, even though she presents herself as a financier,” commented Vanessa.

After the contract cancellation, Andrea blocked Vanessa on all social media platforms. Vanessa then used these platforms to share her story, which resulted in around 30 women coming forward with similar experiences, some dating back to 2016.

“Some have been dealing with this for 8 years. Andrea Araujo Ortiz doesn’t honor her contracts. The only time she did, back in 2016 at the Santa Catalina Clinic in Tecate, the patient died,” another victim stated.

Many noted that Andrea worked at the Jerusalem Clinic, promoting surgeries by doctors Juan Betancourt and Henry Vela. The situation escalated after the death of María José Chacón Herrera, the wife of the Consul of Guatemala in Denver, in July 2022.

Following this incident, Andrea apologized to her clients and requested time to refund their money, claiming she was also a victim. Vanessa added that her complaint now includes Andrea, her partner César, her cousin Alejandra, and her mother María, stating that the fraudulent contract payments went into their bank accounts.

So far, seven other victims have also filed fraud complaints, and more are expected in the coming weeks. Collectively, the fraud amounts to roughly 2.4 million pesos.
