### Tijuana’s Risk Atlas Nears Completion: Statement from Montserrat Caballero

**Tijuana, August 28, 2024** – Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, the Mayor of Tijuana, has announced that the city’s Risk Atlas will be finalized before the end of her current administration. The project, which has an allocated budget of approximately 5 million pesos, is nearly 90% complete and is set to be finished by September 30.

Caballero emphasized that this atlas had not been updated in over twelve years, necessitating a comprehensive restart from scratch. “We started from zero, funding the required study elements. It had been over twelve years without an update,” she noted.

The Risk Atlas aims to identify and monitor high-risk zones within Tijuana to prevent structural collapses and other hazards. Key areas of concern include active landslide zones like Cañón del Matadero, La Sierra on Bulevar Cuauhtémoc, where two buildings previously collapsed, as well as Lomas Conjunto Residencial, Camino Verde, Lomas de la Presa, and Vista Alamar.

Miguel Ángel Ceballos, Municipal Director of Civil Protection, reiterated the importance of this update. “We’ve had no new data since 2014, but this atlas will now include dangerous active landslides,” he said.
