### Investigation into Potential Information Leak in Tijuana Police Kidnapping Case
The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) is conducting an internal investigation to determine if there was a possible leak of information concerning a case against Tijuana municipal police officers accused of kidnapping. Rafael Orozco Vargas, the central prosecutor for the FGE, stated that this examination aims to rule out any unauthorized disclosures of the case file involving six municipal police officers.
On Thursday, October 24, authorities attempted to execute arrest warrants against the accused officers. However, the officers had secured legal protection orders that prevented their detention. One officer under investigation is reportedly the spouse of an FGE agent, although the prosecutor clarified that she has been on medical leave for six months.
The officers are being scrutinized for their alleged involvement in the illegal detention of a local businessman, an incident that took place on July 4 in the Mariano Matamoros area of the city. Security cameras captured the moment the officers allegedly detained the businessman and his son, purportedly demanding money for their release.
Orozco Vargas also denied media reports linking the resignation of Alejandro Reyes López, head of the Specialized Units, to any alleged mishandling of the investigation file. He emphasized that Reyes López chose to resign and was not dismissed from his position.
The FGE remains firm that there is no increase in kidnapping cases in Baja California. Should any inconsistencies be found during the ongoing investigation, appropriate administrative or legal actions will be taken against those responsible.
