### City Official Resigns Amid Threat Investigation in Tijuana
In a significant development, Tijuana’s mayor, Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, confirmed on Tuesday that she has requested the resignation of Miguel Ángel Bujanda, the Secretary General of the city’s municipal council. The resignation comes in the wake of a grim discovery over the weekend—a dead body and a narco-message directed toward the official.
For now, the city will appoint an interim official to handle Bujanda’s responsibilities, although no names have been mentioned. Caballero Ramírez explained that due to safety concerns and pending investigations by the State Attorney General’s Office, Bujanda was given the option to take a leave or resign, and he opted for the latter.
The harrowing events unfolded on Saturday, August 10, when a lifeless body was found inside a Volkswagen Passat with California license plates. Alongside the body was a narco-message allegedly from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), targeting Bujanda. The vehicle was located in front of a grocery store in the Sánchez Taboada neighborhood.
The message read: “Miguel Ángel Bujanda, don’t try to play tough with the Four Letters, you’re on your way out. You’ve done enough stealing, don’t get into more trouble. We’re well established here and with full force. CJNG.”
Inside the car, human remains were discovered, severely decomposed and wrapped in a white blanket. The remains included a torso, an arm, and a head.
The State Attorney General, María Elena Andrade, stated that Bujanda would be called in for questioning regarding the events, although he hasn’t yet appeared to give a statement. According to sources close to the official, only phone conversations with the Attorney General’s office have taken place so far.
Bujanda’s resignation is reportedly a measure to ensure his safety and that of his family while authorities proceed with their investigation.
