### Duo Shot Dead in Multiple Attack in Las Cumbres, Playas de Tijuana

On the evening of August 10, 2024, just before 8 PM, a violent multiple attack rocked the Las Cumbres neighborhood in the Playas de Tijuana district. The assault claimed the lives of two men, aged 38 and 44, and also left a man and a woman injured.

The brutal event took place inside a wooden residence on Mercenario Street where police discovered the body of a man, his face bearing several wounds. Nearby, on Monte Logan Street, authorities found a motorcycle and the corpse of another man.

In a separate incident earlier the same day in the same area, a 42-year-old man was discovered lifeless in the main bedroom of a house on Bahía Street in the Brisa del Mar subdivision, a black rope tied around his neck.

Further south in Tijuana, law enforcement found a man’s body with a piece of rope around his neck inside a sewer duct near Cañón de las Carretas. The victim’s age and identity remain unknown due to the advanced state of decomposition.

Another homicide occurred in the central zone early Sunday morning, where a man aged between 40 and 45 years was executed outside a Shake sales outlet at the intersection of Revolución Avenue and Eighth Street.

In the North Zone, a 54-year-old woman was shot and killed inside a grocery store on the corner of Coahuila and Arias Bernal streets.

Among the nine homicides recorded in Tijuana over recent hours, a notable find was a headless male body wrapped in a blanket and plastic bags, abandoned in the back seat of a gray Volkswagen Passat with California plates, parked outside El Barrilito grocery store on Sánchez Taboada avenue.

In the eastern part of Tijuana, a shooting claimed the life of a man inside the “Abarrotes Doña Queta” store on Francisco Zarco Street in the Manuel Paredes neighborhood. Additionally, a charred vehicle containing a body was discovered on a rural road near the Los Valles subdivision.

Further adding to Tijuana’s rising crime wave, additional attacks were reported throughout the region. Three people were killed and a minor was injured in an armed assault in Ensenada.

Mexicali authorities also made headlines by rescuing 20 migrants from Northern Africa, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

In another development, an individual implicated in the homicide of a Chinese businessman and his associate was apprehended, showcasing some progress in combatting the region’s rampant criminal activities.

Each of these incidents is a stark reminder of the pressing security challenges facing Baja California. Efforts to address and mitigate this growing violence must be prioritized to restore a sense of safety and peace in the community.
