On the night of September 10, a narcomanta (a threatening banner associated with drug cartels) was discovered hanging from a bridge on Benítez Boulevard in the Ciénaga Poniente neighborhood of Tijuana. The ominous message was specifically addressed to Saúl Najar and Alexis Portillo.

According to information obtained by local sources, at around 7:45 PM, a report was made about a fabric banner hanging on the bridge in front of the Federal Electricity Commission offices. The message, written in black letters, delivered a chilling threat.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the perpetrators were three men dressed in black and wearing caps, who made their getaway in a golden truck.

The banner’s message read:

> “SAÚL NAJAR Y ALEXIS PORTILLO, RETURN THE PIECES YOU STOLE FROM THERE OR I WILL START HITTING YOU BACK. SECOND WARNING. YOU WON’T HAVE 48 HOURS TO REPORT BACK. PUTOS LACRAS. ATTE: EL DE CUU.”

Authorities have since taken the banner for further investigation.
