Early morning on Monday, September 9th, a 52-year-old woman was injured in a shooting while driving her vehicle on Vía Rápida, near El Chamizal neighborhood in Tijuana.

Reports indicate that around 8:29 AM, gunfire was reported on Vía Rápida Oriente, close to Buena Vista Street. The victim, driving a maroon Ford Fusion with license plates A06NYK3, was struck by the gunfire.

Municipal Police of Tijuana responded to the scene and found the woman with injuries to her torso and left leg. She was promptly taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

The victim has been identified as Martha Elena Vázquez Barbosa, who works as a medical assistant. According to investigators, Vázquez Barbosa stated that a man of dark complexion, wearing a blue sweater and black pants, approached her vehicle and shot her at close range before fleeing the scene.

Five ballistic evidence markers were discovered at the crime scene.
