### Independence Day Celebration to Feature La Sonora Dinamita
Tijuana, September 2, 2024 – Tijuana’s Independence Day celebration promises to be a grand affair with the musical charm of La Sonora Dinamita, as announced by the city’s mayor, Montserrat Caballero Ramírez. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 15 at the roundabout of the Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla monument.
Mayor Caballero Ramírez detailed the event during her weekly morning press conference, stating, “On Sunday, September 15, we’ll be here at the roundabout celebrating and shouting with a popular fair, with La Sonora Dinamita livening up the evening. Immediately on the morning of September 16, we’ll commence the traditional parade.”
The city expects over 50,000 attendees at the Grito de Independencia event. This marks the third and final celebration under Caballero Ramírez’s administration. The Grito event will be held at the roundabout of the Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla monument, located between Paseo Centenario and Independence Boulevard, adjacent to the Municipal Palace.
Reflecting on past celebrations, the 213th-anniversary event took place at the Monumental Clock Arch on Avenida Revolución, which saw the inclusion of regional music artist Pancho Barraza. Last year, the event drew approximately 50,000 attendees, but this year, the city officials are preparing for an even larger crowd.
In 2022, the Grito de Independencia was also celebrated at the roundabout of the Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla monument, featuring El Coyote and his Banda Tierra Santa. Notably, this will be the second time La Sonora Dinamita participates in a public event under the current administration, having previously performed at the 2023 LGBTIQ Pride march.
