**Inter-State Karate Do Tournament Slated for December in Tijuana**
The Tijuana Sports Unit is set to host an Inter-State Karate Do Tournament featuring Shito-ryu and Ryukyu Kobudo styles on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7. This event has been organized by the Delicias Community Center.
Both Kenia GutiĆ©rrez Coronado, the head of the Municipal Social Development Department, and Carlos Eliazib King Ristori, Director of Tijuana’s Municipal Sports Institute, announced the tournament details last Friday. GutiĆ©rrez Coronado expressed pride in highlighting the pivotal role of community centers, stating, “Our community centers are the heartbeat of our neighborhoods. It’s an honor to present this tournament, emerging from one of our centers, as we fully support sports in all its forms.”
King Ristori extended a warm welcome to the participants and their families, emphasizing the Tijuana Sports Unit as the event’s venue. Competitors hailing from Mexicali, Ensenada, Tecate, Morelia, and Oaxaca are expected to join.
The tournament will kick off on Friday, December 6, with a grading examination for 30 athletes from the community center. The athletes, led by their instructor Sensei Israel Flores, will be evaluated by a Japanese expert for potential advancement in their martial arts ranking. The competitions will take place on Saturday, December 7, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Tijuana Sports Unit’s sports complex. Organizers anticipate around 100 participants demonstrating their martial prowess.
