Tijuana – The 24th National Meeting on Food and Community Development was officially inaugurated in Tijuana, with the objective of fostering collaboration and agreements between the National System for the Integral Development of the Family (SNDIF) and state DIFs. These efforts aim to enhance the nutrition and overall well-being of Mexican families. Tijuana’s Mayor, Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, joined Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda in kicking off the event.

Scheduled from December 4 to 6, the gathering will feature experts who will share both theoretical and practical insights to enhance the planning and execution of the Comprehensive Strategy for Social Food Assistance and Community Development. The goal is to secure the right to food for priority groups across the nation.

In his remarks, Mayor Burgueño highlighted the event’s vital role in moving towards a more inclusive Mexico where nutritional food security is a fundamental right. Governor Ávila Olmeda welcomed the participants, emphasizing the forum’s significance in learning and collaboration to build a more inclusive country with guaranteed food security.

The Head of the National DIF, María del Rocío García Pérez, noted the importance of Tijuana as a vibrant city that connects cultures and offers both challenges and opportunities. Meanwhile, the President of the Baja California DIF, Mavis Olmeda García, expressed gratitude to Mayor Burgueño for his support, reinforcing the commitment to community strength and social well-being.

Throughout the event, attendees will engage in presentations, discussion panels, and workshops aimed at refining the strategy that will guide future program improvements.
