### High Temperatures in Tijuana to Persist Until Wednesday

The high temperatures in Tijuana are expected to continue until Wednesday, as confirmed by Miguel Ángel Ceballos Ramírez, the head of the Municipal Civil Protection Directorate of Tijuana. The extreme heat has already caused power outages in various neighborhoods across the city.

On Monday, temperatures in the eastern parts of the city could reach up to 34 degrees Celsius, making it one of the hottest areas. For Tuesday, maximum temperatures are estimated to be around 29 degrees, while Wednesday is expected to see a slight drop to between 24 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Authorities recommend several precautionary measures during this heatwave. If a person or pet must remain in a vehicle, it’s advised to leave the windows open. People are also encouraged to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and to keep their homes well-ventilated.

“These high temperatures increase the risk of fires, and incidents have unfortunately led to fatalities inside some homes,” said Ceballos Ramírez. He emphasized the importance of having smoke detectors and fire extinguishers readily available to tackle fire emergencies quickly.

The excessive heat has also led to power outages due to the high demand for energy. “In some areas like Otay, Playas de Tijuana, and Cacho, we experienced electrical system failures for a few hours because of the overload,” Ceballos Ramírez explained.

Despite these conditions, there is no current recommendation to suspend in-person classes, leaving the decision at the discretion of individual schools. Nevertheless, some private schools and the Federal High School Lázaro Cárdenas have opted to switch to online classes to avoid exposing students to the extreme heat. This decision is partly due to many students relying on public transportation and the fact that increased energy consumption could limit the schools’ ability to maintain a comfortable environment.
