Free Glasses to be Distributed this Saturday at Torre de Agua Caliente

Residents of Tijuana are set to receive a helpful service this Saturday, November 16th, as up to 1,000 pairs of free eyeglasses will be distributed to those in need at Torre de Agua Caliente park. Taking place from 8 AM to 2 PM, this event is spearheaded by the Tijuana Lions Club, under the leadership of President Lionel Derat Rascón.

The one-day event, named “Vistatoon,” aims to provide much-needed eyewear to individuals facing financial challenges. Participants simply need to attend for an eye examination without the necessity of prior registration. According to Rascón, other essential health services will also be available, including checks on vital signs, blood pressure, oxygenation, and sugar levels.

Should specific prescription glasses not be available during the event, or should supplies run out, attendees will receive a document allowing them to obtain their glasses at a later date through the association’s clinic. Rascón assured that most people would secure their glasses as long as stocks last.

Additionally, the event will include a Diabetes Patient Day, courtesy of Fernando Acevedo from the Lions of Otay. Attendees can expect medical consultations and information regarding diabetes management. Health services such as blood pressure checks, glucose level assessments, and nutritional advice will be provided, along with podiatry and dental care.

To enhance the experience, recreational games for children and a raffle of food hampers will also be part of the day’s activities. However, it was noted that individuals with a blood sugar level over 200 might not receive their spectacles, as this condition could affect the accuracy of vision tests.
