**Inauguration of General Hospital in Eastern Tijuana: A New Health Milestone**
After almost a year of delays, the General Hospital in Eastern Tijuana officially opened its doors on November 6th. This facility, located on Fuentes de Mexicali Street in the Las Fuentes neighborhood, promises to enhance healthcare offerings for the region. The hospital is equipped with six operating rooms, seven consultation rooms, two trauma centers, and 110 inpatient beds, along with 20 beds specifically for emergencies. It also boasts advanced imaging services, a laboratory, and a modern CT scanner.
The hospital provides a wide array of specialties including internal medicine, gynecology, obstetrics, orthopedics, family planning, psychology, cardiology, otorhinolaryngology, pediatrics, and emergency services. These services are available to the entire community at no cost, regardless of whether individuals are beneficiaries of any existing institutions.
Constructing and equipping this hospital required a significant investment of 626 million pesos, with 273 million allocated to infrastructure and 353 million to equipment. For its first year, the hospital aims to serve an estimated 289,000 people not only from Eastern Tijuana but also from the municipalities of Tecate and parts of Rosarito.
However, the hospital currently has only 21 medical professionals across all its departments. To address this shortage, Alejandro Svarch Pérez, Director of IMSS Bienestar, mentioned that a recruitment initiative is underway through the “Well-being Doctors Network, the largest public service network in the world,” to hire the necessary medical staff.
