### Tijuana Hosts Responsible Dog Adoption Fair

This weekend, animal lovers in Tijuana have the opportunity to expand their families with a furry friend, as the “La Nube Taxi Pet & Rescue” association is hosting a responsible dog adoption fair. The event will take place on Sunday at Teniente Guerrero Park, situated on Carrillo Puerto Street and 5 de Mayo Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Evangelina Hernández, the event organizer, highlighted the importance of providing these dogs with safe and loving homes. Many of the animals available for adoption have unfortunately experienced neglect and mistreatment in the past. “All these dogs have been through tough times, with some having been hit by cars, abandoned on roofs, left hungry, or afflicted with mange. Thankfully, most are now safe,” she explained.

To support this cause, the public is encouraged not only to consider adopting but also to donate food, blankets, towels, and cleaning supplies to help care for the dogs still at the shelter. “Occasionally, we mix their food with chicken or lentils to make the kibble last longer because kibble is quite expensive,” Hernández shared.

Around ten dogs will be present at the adoption fair, but the shelter actually houses 39 canines. Due to logistical reasons, not all can be brought to the event. Those up for adoption are vaccinated and sterilized. The organizer encourages people to embrace the joy of adoption over purchasing pets, noting that these mixed-breed dogs offer as much love and companionship as any purebred. “There will be many little angels eagerly awaiting a home, and most of them, although not purebred, are as affectionate and grateful as purebred dogs,” Hernández emphasized.

### Additional Initiatives for Animal Welfare in Tijuana

In conjunction with the adoption fair, there is an ongoing effort to collect kibble to support local dog and cat rescuers across Tijuana. Residents who may not be able to adopt are encouraged to contribute what they can to help feed and care for rescued animals.

Furthermore, local authorities are taking steps against animal cruelty. There are various community initiatives aimed at raising awareness and preventing such abuse. Tackling this issue remains a priority as efforts continue to support responsible pet ownership and animal welfare throughout the city.

These programs are part of a broader community effort to ensure that all pets in Tijuana are treated humanely and find the loving homes they deserve. By attending events like the adoption fair and participating in local initiatives, residents can make a significant impact on the lives of these animals.
