On the morning of Tuesday, August 27, a couple was fatally shot while driving through the Natura neighborhood in Tijuana. The incident, which occurred around 7:00 AM on Águila Real Street, left both the man and woman with multiple gunshot wounds in a public area.

Municipal police officers and Red Cross paramedics arrived at the scene promptly and confirmed that the victims showed no signs of life. Their vehicle, a black 1998 Jeep Cherokee with California license plates (3FJY830), was found nearby with bullet holes in the rear window.

In related events earlier that same morning, a woman in her 50s was killed, and a man was injured in a shooting on 9th Street, Gustavo Madero Avenue, in the High Liberty neighborhood. Shortly before this, a 19-year-old man was shot and killed on 18th Street at the corner of Miguel Anzures, in the Lower Liberty neighborhood. The young man sustained one gunshot wound to the chest and two in the back.

Tijuana has experienced a troubling surge in violence, with 138 homicides recorded in August alone.
