To help raise funds for essential supplies such as rice, beans, and oil for distribution to orphanages and migrant shelters, the Tijuana Food Bank (Banati) is organizing a charity run. Kate Abigail Castillo Ibarra, head of the organization’s outreach department, announced the event.

The participation fee is set at 150 pesos for adults and 50 pesos for children under 15. These contributions will be used to acquire non-perishable food items, including grains like rice and beans, which will be distributed in basic food hampers to institutions in Tijuana, Tecate, and Playas de Rosarito.

Benefiting organizations include the Salesian Father Chava Breakfast Program, which provides daily meals to the homeless and those in transit, as well as orphanages like Eunime, which supports children and adolescents affected by HIV/AIDS. Additionally, the food will be delivered to various rehabilitation centers.

The 4-kilometer run is scheduled for Saturday, August 31, at Parque Morelos. Participants can start warming up from 7:30 AM, and the race will kick off at 8:00 AM. “The entire route will be within the park, making it a safe and family-friendly event. Participants can choose to walk, jog, or run, depending on their ability,” mentioned Castillo Ibarra.

There will be medals for the first 100 participants, and cash prizes for the top three finishers. Those interested in joining the run, making donations, or volunteering can contact Banati at 664 629 2700 or email ddifusion@banati.org.
