**Tijuana City Council Partners with Local Businesses for “El Buen Fin” Shopping Event**
Tijuana – In preparation for “El Buen Fin,” the popular shopping event organized by the National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (CANACO) in Tijuana from November 15th to 18th, the Tijuana City Council has secured a partnership with local businesses. This collaboration aims to provide medical and tourist passes at all participating shopping centers.
Pedro Montejo Peterson, Secretary of Economic Development in Tijuana, made this announcement during a local press event. He emphasized the significance of boosting Tijuana’s economy, a city continuously on the rise, and highlighted the municipal government’s efforts in achieving this goal.
The initiative aims to attract visitors from the north, encouraging them to shop and savor the rich culinary offerings of Tijuana. To facilitate a seamless experience for tourists, all fast-track lanes, including San Ysidro and Otay, will remain open 24 hours a day throughout the event. This effort aims to enhance the city’s tourism and gastronomic appeal while supporting local commerce.
Montejo Peterson also discussed the efforts to monitor and enhance the FastLane program, which provides streamlined border crossing for medical service users and business tourists from the United States. The program’s ultimate goal is to enrich visitors’ experiences while stimulating economic activity in the region.
A recent review found that nearly 48% of the registered companies within the program had issues, such as unauthorized sale or resale of passes and abandoned “clinics.” An initial 30-day effort by the current administration addressed these irregularities, maintaining compliance among registered businesses.
Residents interested in obtaining these special passes are encouraged to visit the Economic Development Secretariat offices to enter the program transparently and according to established protocols.

**Secondary Article: Online Shopping to Boost “El Buen Fin” Sales in Tijuana**
As “El Buen Fin” approaches, CANACO Tijuana is preparing to expand into the digital marketplace, introducing online sales as a significant new avenue for consumers. With heightened expectations, local businesses anticipate a 45% rise in sales this year.
In addition to increasing online sales options, CANACO also sees this event as an opportunity to realign business strategies in the popular ‘Revu’ area, tailored more towards appealing to foreign tourists. These innovations generate optimism for Tijuana’s economic landscape, with an expected rise in employment opportunities, specifically in the factory industry, starting January.
Furthermore, amid preparations for “El Buen Fin,” other sectoral developments include enhanced inspections of manufacturing facilities following recent incidents and ongoing efforts in vehicle regularization within Baja California. Notably, the Tijuana branch of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMOS) is processing about 12 vehicles daily for registration, ensuring compliance and safety standards.
This year’s focus on leveraging online commerce and revitalizing local business strategies marks a proactive shift designed to capture a broader audience and maximize economic growth during the shopping festival.
