## Enhanced Security Measures and Sobriety Checkpoints During Patriotic Celebrations: SSPCM

In anticipation of the 15th of September celebrations in Tijuana, heightened security measures and sobriety checkpoints will be implemented, announced Fernando Sánchez González, head of the Municipal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPCM).

“Mass events require our full attention, especially during national celebrations where we expect large crowds. We are prepared with a comprehensive security operation and deployment in the area,” stated Sánchez González.

### Celebration Details

This year’s Independence Day events, commemorating Mexico’s independence, will be held beside the Municipal Palace at the Glorieta Miguel Hidalgo. Festivities will kick off at 6 PM on Sunday with a popular fair, followed by the traditional Grito de Independencia ceremony, and will culminate with a free concert by Sonora Dinamita, featuring Lucho Argaín.

“The police deployment will focus on this area without neglecting the downtown area and other patriotic events,” Sánchez González elaborated. Additional security posts will be stationed around Parque Morelos, the El Trompo Museum, and the Palenque, sites tied to the Tijuana Fair where various artistic activities are held.

“In these locations, we maintain a daily presence due to the high turnout of citizens enjoying the festivities with their families,” he added.

### Undisclosed Number of Officers

While the exact number of deployed officers will not be disclosed until after the event, Sánchez González assured, “This information must remain confidential, but rest assured a significant number will be safeguarding the safety of the people of Tijuana.”

### Sobriety Checkpoints

In response to the celebrations, sobriety checkpoints will be set up at various points throughout the city. The SSPCM will also maintain a vigilant presence during the traditional Independence Day parade on September 16.
