### Fire in Tijuana Drug Den Spreads to Four Nearby Homes

**TJGringo.com – August 9, 2024**

On the morning of Friday, August 9, a fire broke out in a home located in the Sánchez Taboada Produtsa neighborhood of Tijuana, resulting in significant damage to four adjacent homes. The fire was reported around 6:45 a.m. near Mercado La Villita.

Captain José Meléndez, the supervisor of the sector that includes the neighborhood, confirmed that first responders quickly arrived at Júpiter Street, near the intersection with Urano Street. Thankfully, the residents had already evacuated their homes, and no injuries were reported.

“Four adjacent homes suffered damage, including rooms and roofs,” Meléndez stated. Both the location where the fire began and an adjacent home experienced total damage.

Inside one of the affected houses, two vehicles—a grey Ford F-150 and a grey Grand Cherokee—were also damaged by the fire.

Preliminary reports indicate that the dwelling where the fire started was vacant and commonly used as a drug den.

Given the ongoing fire season, Captain Meléndez advised the public to keep their properties clean, remove household waste promptly, and frequently clear any dry grass from around their homes.
