### Sixth Stage of Imdet Delegational Athletics Series Announced for August

**Tijuana, August 20, 2024** – Get ready runners! The Municipal Sports Institute of Tijuana (IMDET) is set to host the sixth stage of the 2024 Delegational Athletics Series this Saturday, August 24. The event will take place at the Cerro de las Abejas Recreational and Sports Park, offering participants a fresh new route to explore.

IMDET’s acting director, Iván Guadalupe Fierro Gastélum, shared, “After completing the 29th Tijuana International Half Marathon, we’re eager to return to the Delegational Athletics Series.”

The 5-kilometer event will begin at 7:15 AM, with runners starting and finishing at the park. The course will be mostly flat, consisting of asphalt surfaces. Participants will embark from 3rd Street, head west to Av. Las Fuentes, make a right onto Blvd. Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, and follow it straight to Calle Principal where they’ll make a U-turn to return along the same boulevard.

Runners will then navigate a U-turn at Blvd. Héroes de la Independencia, head back towards Calle Las Fuentes, turn left on 3rd Street, and complete the race at the starting point in Cerro de las Abejas Park.

The first 4,500 runners to cross the finish line will receive commemorative medals. To participate, runners must confirm their registration online through [this link](https://bit.ly/46U3oU6). They will also need to replace their white-background bibs with new maroon-background bibs, available for pickup at IMDET’s CREA Sports Unit office from August 21 to 23 between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

In support of the community, participants are encouraged, but not required, to bring school supplies to donate on the day of the race.

## Additional News on the Event

**Volunteers Needed for Race Day**

Apart from runners, the event is looking for volunteers to assist with various tasks on race day. Volunteers will help with registration, distribution of bibs, and handing out water and medals along the route. Community members interested in volunteering can sign up at the IMDET office or through their website.

**Road Closures and Traffic Advisory**

Local authorities have issued a traffic advisory for the race day, as several streets including 3rd Street, Av. Las Fuentes, and sections of Blvd. Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez and Blvd. Héroes de la Independencia will be closed from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
