In a significant security operation this past Saturday, November 9, military officials confiscated at least 35 kilograms of drugs at the Tijuana International Airport. According to information released by the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the substances await further analysis to determine their exact composition. The confiscated materials have been handed over to the office of the Attorney General in Tijuana, Baja California for investigation.

Notably, this isn’t the first seizure at the airport this week. On November 6, authorities uncovered a different batch of illegal substances as part of their ongoing security protocols. During an inspection involving agents from the National Guard and military forces, a canine unit helped in detecting five boxes containing over 40 kilograms of suspected cocaine and 3 kilograms of what might be marijuana. This batch was also submitted to the Attorney General for further inquiry.

SEDENA emphasized that these seizures are part of the broader “100 Days Plan” implemented by the Federal Public Administration from 2024 to 2030 aimed at amplifying security measures and reducing drug trafficking activities.

Additional operations in Tijuana continue to expose significant drug trafficking activities. In a recent operation on November 8, the National Guard intercepted a tractor-trailer filled with drugs at the Otay Customs. Additionally, on the same day, law enforcement officials in Tijuana arrested four individuals and seized various illicit substances along with firearm cartridges.

These incidents are all part of a concerted effort against narcotics distribution in the region, with law enforcement agencies demonstrating heightened vigilance.

Such measures underscore the persistent challenges faced in combatting drug-related activities in Baja California, as authorities work tirelessly to prevent the flow of illegal substances through key transit points like Tijuana’s airport and border crossings.
