**Introducing the Inaugural 4K Well-Being Run in Tijuana**
In a bid to promote physical activity while highlighting the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women,” the Well-Being Secretariat has proudly announced the first-ever 4K Well-Being Run. This event is set to take place on Sunday, November 24th, at Morelos Park in Tijuana.
“We are thrilled to announce this race, especially as it reflects our collaborative efforts with all municipal entities for the betterment of Tijuana,” shared Erik Morales Elvira, the Secretary of Well-Being.
The 4-kilometer running event will commence at 8:00 AM, following a route within Morelos Park. Participants can register for free on the day of the event starting at 7:30 AM. The organizers are also encouraging participants to bring a donation of either 1 kilogram of non-perishable food or other helpful items, which will be distributed to the community through the Municipal Social Development Department (DESOM).
In support of “Orange Day,” observed every 25th of the month, the event encourages donations of sanitary towels or diapers, benefitting the Municipal Institute of Women (IMMUJER). Participants are also invited to wear an orange sports article or accessory in solidarity with the cause.
Safety measures for the event include restrictions on running with strollers or pets, and it is unsuitable for children under 13 years old. Tijuana’s Municipal Athletics League (LIMAT) will oversee the technical coordination of the race.

**Inspired Initiatives: Global Moves to Combat Gender Violence**
In recent years, cities and organizations worldwide have been adopting innovative ways to combat gender-based violence, inspired by events such as the upcoming 4K Well-Being Run in Tijuana. Notable initiatives include educational workshops, self-defense classes, and community-led dialogues in schools and public spaces, aimed to create a greater societal impact.
For example, in New York, a series of workshops titled “Empowered Voices” was launched earlier this year, focusing on empowering women through skill-building and awareness sessions. Similarly, in Sydney, the campaign “Walk the Talk” engages local residents in monthly gatherings that discuss and formulate strategies against domestic violence.
Moreover, international coalitions like UN Women’s “Orange the World” campaign continue to spearhead global awareness and advocacy efforts. By unifying different cultures and communities through the theme of “orange,” these movements highlight the power of solidarity in creating safe spaces and challenging societal norms.
These collective efforts, echoed by the community-driven initiatives in places like Tijuana, underscore a universal commitment to ensuring safety and dignity for all individuals, thereby fostering a refreshed vision of community well-being.
