Authorities have video footage of the individuals who left a vehicle containing a corpse and a threatening message against ex-Secretary of Government, Miguel Ángel Bujanda, in Tijuana. The sign, reportedly signed by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), was found early Sunday morning.
This incident marks the third threat directed at Bujanda. On October 1, 2023, a banner signed by the CJNG was found on train tracks in the river area, accusing him of “collecting fees” and implicating Chief Official Marcelo de Jesús Machain Servín. The second threat, a caricature, was broadcast on October 3, 2023, on channel 45 PSN. The cartoon, read by host and current proportional representation local deputy, Yohana Grijalva, included a million-dollar bounty for Bujanda’s life.
State General Prosecutor María Elena Andrade commented on the weekend’s events: “In this case involving a corpse, we’ve initiated a homicide investigation. We have made progress and are working to identify those responsible. Although this occupies our attention, it does not hinder our work.”
Specialized Homicide Prosecutor in Baja California, Miguel Ángel Gaxiola, added: “We have a possible identity of the suspects and are working diligently on this. The cartolina was clearly placed to be seen, and footage from the State Agency reveals youths exiting the vehicle.”
Bujanda currently lacks municipal or state protection because he has resigned from his position and has not requested state security. “We need to approach him to offer the necessary protective measures,” Gaxiola remarked.
