State Crackdown on Animal Cruelty

State authorities in Tijuana rescue four dogs from severe mistreatment, responding to citizen reports and launching proactive operations against animal abuse. Efforts continue to protect animals and prosecute offenders.

### State Authorities Conduct Operations Against Animal Abuse and Cruelty

The State General Prosecutor’s Office, through the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Tijuana, has proactively launched operations to combat animal abuse and cruelty. In two significant interventions in Tijuana, authorities rescued four dogs found in severe conditions of mistreatment.

Following directives from the State General Prosecutor, Ma. Elena Andrade Ramírez, to promptly address and investigate reports of animal abuse, the authorities promptly acted on two denounced cases in the Mariano Matamoros and Las Cumbres neighborhoods.

### Rescue Operations

Responding to citizen reports of multiple animals in a state of abandonment at a residence on Avenida de las Torres, between Camino Tlatelolco and Camino Tulum in Mariano Matamoros, authorities secured a search warrant for the property. During the operation, three dogs were rescued: two mixed-breed males aged four and five years, one suffering from mange, and a mixed-breed female of around two years. These animals were transferred to the custody of the animal control department for further care.

The property was secured and marked for ongoing investigation by the Public Ministry.

In a separate incident on Monte Rosa Street in the Las Cumbres neighborhood, during a preliminary probe, a pit bull in poor condition was voluntarily surrendered to the authorities by its owner.

### Continued Efforts

These operations were led by the case prosecutor with the support of assistants from the Prosecutor’s Office, Municipal Animal Control Center personnel, and agents from the State Investigation Agency. The State General Prosecutor’s Office has committed to ongoing responsiveness to reports of animal mistreatment and will continue to gather evidence to prosecute those responsible.
