## 21 Arrested and 11 Homemade Bombs Seized Between Sonoyta and San Luis Río Colorado

In a significant security operation in Sonora, 21 individuals were apprehended by the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena). The authorities managed to seize a substantial arsenal, including homemade explosives intended for aerial deployment.

A press release detailed the operation conducted in Sonoyta and San Luis Colorado. The statement read, “In response to real, current, and imminent threats, military personnel repelled the aggression as established by the National Law on the Use of Force, resulting in the arrest of 21 alleged criminals. The operation led to the confiscation of 44 high-caliber firearms, 399 magazines, 23,899 cartridges, eight improvised explosive devices, 11 homemade detonating devices, 13 vehicles (including one with agency-grade armoring), and various tactical equipment.”

Photographs taken by Sedena personnel during the operation showcased the four vehicles, the detainees, and the confiscated arsenal and explosives. However, the exact date, location details, and legal processes were not disclosed in the release.

The official report highlights, “The detainees and the seized material were handed over to competent authorities for determining their legal status and conducting investigations and forensic activities to confirm the characteristics of the armament. These activities were conducted in strict adherence to the rule of law and respect for human rights.”

## Additional News: Increased Vigilance Resulting in Similar Confiscations

In light of increased vigilance and similar operations, authorities in different regions of Mexico have reported seizing a variety of weapons and explosives. Just last week, security forces in another northern state intercepted a shipment containing 30 firearms and several explosive devices.

Authorities attribute the success of these operations to improved intelligence sharing and cooperation between military and law enforcement agencies. “We are committed to dismantling criminal operations and ensuring the safety of our citizens,” an official stated.

In another notable incident earlier this year, a similar operation in southern Mexico led to the arrest of several gang members and the seizure of a cache of weapons and drugs. These operations demonstrate the continued efforts of Mexican authorities to clamp down on organized crime across the country.
