**Sheinbaum Accuses Romero of Leading an “Inmobiliary Cartel”**

Claudia Sheinbaum, the head of Mexico’s Federal Executive, has accused Jorge Romero Herrera, the newly elected president of the National Action Party (PAN), of leading an “inmobiliary cartel” in the Benito Juárez district. During a press conference at the National Palace, Sheinbaum claimed that Romero, a former federal deputy and current PAN leader, is deeply involved in corrupt real estate dealings, as revealed by business insiders and former associates.

Sheinbaum criticized the newly appointed PAN leadership as lacking reform and maintained that they continue to represent conservative interests, without clear stances on social programs. She referenced a book by Felipe Calderón, a former Mexican president and long-time PAN member, who criticized Romero for corruption during his tenure as a delegate in Benito Juárez.

Despite these allegations, Romero has stated in interviews that his leadership would welcome dialogue with the federal government but also asserted that the party would oppose where necessary by taking to the streets if ignored.

In the PAN internal elections, Romero secured a decisive victory with nearly 95,000 votes, accounting for around 79.9% of the votes counted amid significant abstention. Romero’s opponent, Adriana Dávila Fernández, raised concerns about the election’s legitimacy, highlighting that many within the party chose not to vote, indicating dissatisfaction with the internal processes.
