### Senior Citizens to Exhibit Artwork at CEART Tijuana
**Tijuana, August 19, 2024** – The Centro Estatal de las Artes (CEART) Tijuana is set to host a unique art exhibition titled “Metamorfosis Creativa: Expresiones Artísticas de las Personas Adultas Mayores.” The exhibit, which will feature works by senior citizens, is scheduled to open on Wednesday, August 28 at 4:00 PM in the Performing Arts Lobby of CEART Tijuana.
Organized by artists and instructors Ivonne Aranda and Sandy Canales, the exhibition showcases the artistic achievements of seniors who participated in the “Vivan los Abuelos. Pintar con Plenitud” art workshop this semester at CEART Tijuana.
“In the twilight of life, where experience and wisdom intertwine with time, art emerges as an essential haven, an open window to the soul, and a profound tool of expression for the elderly. This exhibition is dedicated to celebrating the vitality, creativity, and unique voice of the artists who show us through their brushes and palettes that age is not a limitation but a stage rich in nuances and meanings,” reads the gallery notes by Ivonne Aranda.
Aranda further explains, “Art in its various forms provides a space where seniors can explore and express their emotions, memories, and perspectives. Often, in maturity, life presents new challenges: loneliness, loss of loved ones, changes in health, and family dynamics. In this context, painting becomes a powerful channel for self-expression and reflection, allowing artists to process and communicate their experiences in a way that transcends words. Artistic practice in older age fosters emotional well-being and has tangible mental and physical health benefits. Additionally, art offers an opportunity for socialization and community, connecting seniors with others through workshops, exhibitions, and cultural events.”
The exhibition features artworks that reflect the diversity and richness of experiences of the elderly. Each piece is a testament to the resilience, passion, and capacity for wonder of its creators. The paintings invite us to see the world through the eyes of those who have lived many lives in one and remind us that the creative spirit never ages. As visitors walk through this showcase, they will find inspiration and appreciate the deep connection between art and life at all stages. These works are a reminder that each brushstroke is an affirmation of the vitality and importance of the voice of seniors in our society. Because in every stroke, in every color, lies the story and essence of those who continue to share their legacy with the world through art,” concludes Aranda’s notes.
Artists exhibiting their work in “Metamorfosis Creativa” include Tomasa López Torres, María Ángeles Hernández, Flora Alicia Acosta, Patricia Morán Manjarrez, Cecilia Blanco, Angélica González, Olga Gutiérrez (MOGA), Irma Alicia Contreras Uriarte, Delfina Amaro, Armando Carrasco, Laura Rico, Flora León Campos, Francisco Rodríguez, Adela Flores Narváez, Eunice Raquel Zavala Duarte, Marcia Reyes, Martha Arias, Clara Mateos, Ashley Castro Ciriaco, and Ana María Araujo.
The opening reception of the exhibition is free and open to the public.
