### 28 Homes in Santa Fe at Risk Due to Land Slippage
**Tijuana, Baja California, August 22, 2024** – Residents of 28 homes in the Santa Fe 2 neighborhood, located on Paseo Banderas in the Francisco Zarco subdivision, have reported ongoing issues due to land slippage that began in February. These issues range from cracks in the walls to noticeable shifts in the structures of the houses.
Daniel García, a resident of house number 61, noted that the damages became visible after heavy rains in February, which exacerbated the situation. “The floor tiles started to crack, the front part of the houses lifted, and the park even sank. My neighbor’s house rose three inches at the front, and we fear receiving a red tag and being forced to vacate,” he shared.
The neighbors sought help from the Municipal Civil Protection (PCM), which evaluated the area and tagged these homes with a yellow label, indicating they are in a risk zone. Despite the construction company, Encasa, making repairs, the land continues to shift, leading to further damage.
“The houses are still moving despite the repairs. Encasa keeps selling homes without informing people that 28 homes have been tagged by Civil Protection,” García explained. The neighborhood park, which sank over three inches, remains cordoned off since February.
On Thursday, officials from the Urban Administration Directorate (DAU) inspected the repairs made by Encasa, accompanied by PCM and Encasa workers. The inspected parties declined to comment. Melisa Varela López, resident of house number 64, mentioned, “We asked Civil Protection about the yellow tag, and they said it might be permanent. Selling these homes will be complicated because their value has dropped, and the homes without tags are being sold cheaper by the constructor.”
Affected residents were informed that they could pick up a copy of the official evaluation report from the Municipal Palace on Monday.
