Following a ruling from the State Electoral Tribunal of Baja California to annul the election for the municipal council of San Felipe, Deputy Juan Manuel Molina announced plans to challenge the decision with the Guadalajara Chamber. He emphasized that José Luis Dagnino will assume the role of Municipal President on October 1.
Molina expressed frustration over the unanimous decision by local magistrates, insinuating that former Governor Jaime Bonilla Valdez had colluded against the Morena party through the Labor Party.
“The alleged irregularities are refuted by the election session minutes. The annulment wrongly overrides the public’s vote. We intend to appeal accordingly,” said Molina, a staunch advocate for San Felipe’s municipal status.
He also dismissed accusations from the Green Party (PVEM), whose candidate Adriana López Quintero cited electoral mismanagement rather than fraud. He alleged shifting blame between voters and officials from the State Electoral Institute (IEE).
Molina criticized the tribunal’s resolution, led by Jaime Vargas, as legally unsound and more rhetorical than judicial. He pointed out that similar arguments had been previously dismissed but were now reflected in the annulment, suggesting other measures like vote recounts could have been pursued instead.
