Safe Night Rides for Workers

In response to safety concerns and lack of streetlights, Tijuana companies offer night transport for workers. Safety measures include personnel transport or providing Uber rides due to the absence of public transit at night. The need for improved public lighting and security measures is emphasized to ensure a safer environment for all.

Due to Safety Concerns and Lack of Streetlights, Companies Provide Night Transport for Workers

In the face of rising insecurity and inadequate public lighting, businesses in Tijuana are now offering transportation for employees working late-night shifts. Roberto Vega Solís, president of Coparmex Tijuana, emphasized the necessity of such measures given the unsafe conditions and unreliable public transit at night.

“Companies with night shifts typically provide transport out of safety concerns. There’s personnel transport or in smaller companies, they might pay for an Uber. It’s essential because public transport isn’t available at night and walking can be hazardous,” Vega Solís explained.

The importance of addressing public illumination as a priority in the current administration was also noted. Dark streets pose significant dangers to both workers and the broader community. The city’s lack of street lighting has sparked concern, with proposals to address the issue set forth by the mayor being deemed as crucial.

Additional Developments on Safety and Infrastructure in Tijuana

Amid the ongoing challenges of safety due to insufficient lighting, other local issues have come to the forefront in Tijuana. Recently, maquiladoras, which play a pivotal role in the city’s economy, have started training sessions aimed at addressing complaints of harassment and sexual misconduct in the workplace.

Furthermore, the city is witnessing a strategic focus on improving security measures. The approval of Tijuana’s Strategic Security Cabinet is aimed at enhancing the overall safety for its inhabitants. The newly introduced plan is expected to tackle some of the pressing challenges in maintaining a secure environment.

In the broader scope of infrastructural improvements, taxis operating on designated routes during night hours have become a familiar sight. Operating roughly between 11 PM to 6 AM, these services help ensure safe travel during off-hours, thus supporting both employees and other city residents who need to commute at night.
