Four officers from the State Police in Rosarito have been temporarily relieved from their duties due to two formal complaints filed since the state police took over local security on March 7. Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, stated that one complaint had been lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office while another was submitted to the Internal Control Body of the security department.
“We have received complaints about the state police from the public. Currently, there are two formal cases under investigation,” Carrillo Rodríguez explained. He also noted that while there are various allegations floating around on social media, they have not resulted in any additional formal reports.

Since the state police assumed control of security in Rosarito, they have replaced the 264 municipal officers currently undergoing comprehensive evaluations, including psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, along with social background checks and polygraph exams. Additionally, their firearms are being inspected for serial numbers and codes.
