**Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Following Complaints**
Four officers from the State Police have been temporarily relieved of their duties in Rosarito after two formal complaints were filed since they assumed control over local security on March 7th. Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, the Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, reported that one complaint has been lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, while the other was directed to the internal oversight body of the security department.
Carrillo Rodríguez noted, “We have received complaints about the state police, resulting in two formal cases that are currently under investigation.” Although allegations have surfaced on social media, as of now, no further formal reports have been officially registered.
**Officers Reassigned Amid Ongoing Investigation**
While no concrete evidence currently links the officers to the allegations, Carrillo Rodríguez explained that they have been relocated for safety reasons while the investigation is ongoing. “There is no definitive evidence against them, but they have been reassigned as we continue to examine the situation,” he stated.
Since the transition on March 7th, the State Police have overseen security in Rosarito, replacing the 264 municipal officers who are currently undergoing extensive vetting, including psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, alongside social background checks and polygraph exams. Additionally, their firearms are being verified for serial numbers and codes.
The accountability of officers in such roles is crucial for public trust, and these actions may signal a broader effort to enhance the integrity and effectiveness of Rosarito’s security forces.
