**Four State Police Officers Removed in Rosarito Following Complaints**
Four state police officers in Rosarito have been temporarily dismissed after two formal complaints were lodged against them. This action comes in the wake of the State Police assuming control over local security on March 7th. Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez, confirmed that the complaints were made to both the State Attorney General’s Office and the Internal Control Body of the police department.
Carrillo RodrÃguez stated, “We’ve received complaints from the public regarding the state police, with two formal cases under investigation.” He also noted that, while there have been allegations circulating on social media, no additional formal reports have yet been submitted.
**Officers Reassigned Pending Investigation**
Regarding the situation of the four officers involved, Carrillo RodrÃguez clarified that they have been reassigned to different positions for security reasons as an investigation is carried out by the Internal Control Body. “There is currently no conclusive evidence against them, but they have been relocated during the investigation,” he explained.
Since taking over security duties on March 7th, the State Police have supplanted the 264 municipal officers in Rosarito, who are currently undergoing a comprehensive vetting process. This process includes psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Additionally, municipal officers’ firearms are being inspected for serial numbers and codes.
These developments signify an effort to instill accountability and transparency within Rosarito’s security forces. The hope is that this is the start of a broader clean-up effort in the region.
