### Rosarito Police Shake-Up: Four State Officers Temporarily Relieved of Duty
In Rosarito, four state police officers have been temporarily relieved of their duties following two formal complaints filed since the state police began overseeing local security operations on March 7th. This decision comes amid scrutiny of their conduct, as confirmed by Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security.
Carrillo Rodríguez explained that one of the complaints has been lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, and the other with the Internal Control Body of the security department. “People have indeed brought forth complaints about state police actions. Presently, we have two formal complaints under investigation,” he noted.
He also remarked on various allegations making rounds on social media. However, he emphasized that these remain unreported formally, though they are being looked into.
**Temporary Reassignment Amid Investigation**
As the investigation progresses, the officers have been reassigned for safety reasons. Carrillo Rodríguez mentioned that, at this point, no evidence directly ties the officers to the claims. “Their reassignment ensures an impartial investigation,” he stated.
The state police have been at the helm of security in Rosarito, replacing 264 municipal officers who are currently undergoing rigorous evaluations, including psychological and toxicology tests, and firearm inspections. This reshuffle aims to enhance accountability and transparency among Rosarito’s security forces.
