According to Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez, the Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, one of the complaints was officially lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, while another was directed to the Internal Control Body of the security department. “We have received two formal complaints related to the state police, which are currently under investigation,” stated Carrillo RodrÃguez.
He also mentioned that there have been various allegations made on social media platforms, which are currently being reviewed, although no new formal reports have yet been filed.
**Officers Reassigned Pending Investigation**
Addressing the current status of the officers involved, Carrillo RodrÃguez explained that they have been temporarily reassigned for their own protection while an investigation is underway. “Although there is no evidence linking these officers to the reported misconduct, they have been relocated during the investigation process,” he clarified.
Since the transition of security responsibilities on March 7th, the State Police have been leading security efforts in Rosarito. Meanwhile, 264 municipal officers are undergoing a comprehensive vetting process, which includes psychological, medical, and toxicology screenings, in addition to social background checks and polygraph tests. Even their weapons are being scrutinized for serial numbers and codes.
