**Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Amid Complaints**
Four officers from the State Police have been temporarily suspended from their duties in Rosarito following the submission of two formal complaints since the state police assumed control of local security on March 7th. This decision was announced by Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez. One complaint was filed with the State Attorney General’s Office, while the other was directed to the Internal Control Body of the security department.
Carrillo RodrÃguez stated, “We have received two official complaints concerning state police conduct, and investigations are underway.” He also mentioned that social media allegations are being reviewed, although no additional formal reports have been made.
**Officers Reassigned Pending Investigation**
The officers involved have been reassigned for their safety while the investigation is carried out by the Internal Control Body. Carrillo RodrÃguez emphasized, “There is currently no evidence linking them to the accusations, but they have been relocated as a precaution during the investigation.”
Since taking over on March 7th, the State Police have been responsible for security in Rosarito, succeeding the 264 municipal officers now undergoing various evaluations including psychological, medical, and toxicological testing, as well as background and polygraph checks. Their firearms are being inspected for serial numbers and other codes as part of this vetting process. This incident highlights the importance of accountability in law enforcement, paving the way for much-needed improvements in Rosarito’s security forces.
