Four State Police Officers in Rosarito Temporarily Reassigned Amid Complaints
Four officers from the State Police in Rosarito have been temporarily reassigned following two formal complaints that emerged after the state police took over local security responsibilities on March 7th. According to Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez, Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, one of the complaints was directed to the State Attorney General’s Office and another to the Internal Control Body of the security department.
“There have been complaints regarding the conduct of state police officers. Currently, there are two formal investigations underway,” Carrillo RodrÃguez stated. He also mentioned that while allegations have surfaced on social media, these are also being looked into, although no further formal complaints have been registered.
In the investigation involving the four officers, Carrillo RodrÃguez explained that they have been reassigned as a precautionary measure while the Internal Control Body reviews the matter. “No evidence has yet linked them to the accusations, but they have been relocated to ensure a thorough investigation,” he noted.
Since the state police assumed control of security in Rosarito, the former 264 municipal officers are undergoing a comprehensive vetting process. This includes psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, along with social background checks and polygraph exams. Additionally, their firearms are under inspection for serial numbers and other identifiers.
The move to hold officers accountable is a significant step, aiming for transparency and integrity within local security forces.
