**Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Amid Complaints**
In Rosarito, four State Police officers have been temporarily removed from their duties following the submission of two formal complaints since the state police assumed local security responsibilities on March 7th. According to Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez, Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, one complaint was lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, and another with the Internal Control Body of the security department.
“We have received complaints about the state police. There are two formal cases under investigation,” Carrillo RodrÃguez stated. He also mentioned that social media allegations are being reviewed, although no further formal complaints have been received.
**Officers Reassigned Pending Investigation**
Carrillo RodrÃguez clarified that the reassignment of these officers is a precautionary measure while investigations are underway by the Internal Control Body. “There is no evidence currently connecting them to the accusations, but they have been relocated for the sake of safety during the investigation,” he explained.
Since March 7th, the State Police have taken over security in Rosarito, succeeding the 264 municipal officers who are now undergoing extensive vetting processes, including psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Additionally, their firearms are being inspected for serial numbers and codes.
This may signify the start of a much-needed reform within Rosarito’s security forces.
