In a recent development, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily reassigned from their duties in Rosarito due to two formal complaints filed since the State Police assumed control over local security on March 7th.
Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, the Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, announced that one complaint was lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, with another sent to the security department’s Internal Control Body. “People have approached us with concerns regarding the state police. As of now, there are two official cases under investigation,” Carrillo Rodríguez stated.
He also addressed rumors spreading on social media, ensuring the public that these are being taken seriously and investigated, although no further formal complaints have emerged.
**Officers Moved, Pending Investigation**
In response to the allegations, Carrillo Rodríguez confirmed that the officers have been relocated for their safety while a thorough investigation is ongoing. “There is currently no evidence directly linking them to the accusations, but they have been reassigned to ensure transparency in the investigation process,” he explained.
Since the State Police took over, they have been managing security in Rosarito, as 264 municipal officers undergo rigorous evaluations including psychological and medical tests, toxicology screening, background checks, and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also being scrutinized for serial numbers and codes.
