In Rosarito, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily reassigned from their duties pending an investigation. This move comes after two formal complaints were lodged since the State Police assumed responsibility for local security on March 7th.

Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, noted that one complaint was directed to the State Attorney General’s Office, while the other was filed with the security department’s Internal Control Body. “We are investigating two formal complaints regarding the state police, and we continue to look into allegations circulating on social media. However, no further formal complaints have been filed,” Carrillo Rodríguez stated.

**Officers Reassigned During Investigation**

Although there is currently no evidence connecting the officers to the accusations, Carrillo Rodríguez emphasized that their reassignment is a precautionary measure while the Internal Control Body conducts its investigation. “They have been relocated purely for safety during the investigation,” he explained.

Since their takeover on March 7th, the State Police have been overseeing security in Rosarito. The previous 264 municipal officers are currently undergoing extensive evaluations, including psychological, medical, toxicology tests, social background checks, and polygraphs. Moreover, their firearms are under inspection to verify serial numbers and codes.

The proactive approach in holding officers accountable is seen as a hopeful beginning for improving Rosarito’s security forces.
