Title: Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito After Complaints

Four officers from the State Police in Rosarito have been temporarily relieved from duty following complaints brought against them since the state police took control of local security on March 7th. This measure was taken by the Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, after receiving two formal complaints. One case was reported to the State Attorney General’s Office, while the other was lodged with the Internal Control Body of the security department.

Carrillo Rodríguez explained, “We’ve had individuals come forward with complaints about the state police. At present, we are investigating two formal cases.” He also assured that allegations circulating on social media are under review, though no additional formal complaints have been officially registered.

As for the officers implicated, they have been reassigned to different duties as a precautionary measure while investigations are underway, with Carrillo Rodríguez stressing, “There is no evidence linking them to the accusations, but they have been reassigned pending investigation.”

Since March 7th, the State Police have assumed responsibility for security in Rosarito, succeeding the 264 municipal officers. These municipal officers are now undergoing a comprehensive vetting process, which includes psychological, medical, and toxicology evaluations, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also being examined for serial numbers and codes.

The move is a significant step towards accountability and reform in Rosarito’s security forces.
